Barça did not win the Copa del Rey after an agonising extra time period against Madrid. Before they had knocked out Ceuta, Bilbao, Betis and Almeria.
This was the second of the four clásicos towards the end of the season, and although Barcelona came
out tops in the Liga and Champions League games, the cup went to Real Madrid. On April 20, the
teams offered
a thrilling final
. Madrid had the best of the first half, but FCB were in command in the second. It ended
goalless, and in extra time Cristiano Ronaldo won it for the all-whites. This was the only title
Barça missed out on in 2010/11.
Road to the final
Guardiola’s side reached the final by beating Ceuta (first
round), Athletic Bilbao (round of 16), Betis (quarters) and Almeria (semi final). Barça won all of
their first legs resoundingly apart from the one with Bilbao. The Lions got a 0-0 draw at the Camp
Nou but an
Abidal
in the second leg saw the Catalans through.
