Pedro Gomes Neto was born in Rio de Janeiro on April 26, 1975. From very young he knew that his professional career was going to be in the world of the parquet and double penalties.
He played the game for the first time aged just six and had started playing it seriously by the
time he was eight. At first he shared his time between futsal and the eleven a side game, and still
enjoys both disciplines, but as a teenager he concentred his efforts on the indoor variant.
His parents, who he considers his biggest mentors, supported his progress. After winning two
Leagues, one Cup and a Super Cup in his time at Talavera and Benfica, and also playing for Ourense
and Martorell, Pedrinho then played for two seasons at Barcel Euro Puebla before he came to FC
Barcelona. And the Brazilian was delighted to move to the Catalan capital, saying “I was on
holiday with the family when my agent told me he had reached an agreement with Barça. Playing here
is the best.”
Looking back, his fondest professional memory was the last league game of the 2005-06 season,
when his overhead goal sealed victory for his team and was greeted with raucous applause all around
the pavilion.
