Barça Mobicat took another step forward this season. The team was seeded for the Cup and the play-offs, reached the semi-finals of the Cup and won the Copa Catalana.
Last season the team reached the semi-finals of the League Division of Honour but didn’t
qualify for the Cup. The aim this year was to improve in both competitions. This was achieved
despite some negative moments.
Leadership and elimination
These came at in the final of the league. After the best ever regular league season
for the indoor football section, with the team reaching the top of the division on a number of
occasions, the most unexpected happened. In the play-offs, the most decisive phase of the season,
Barça Mobicat failed to live up to their promise. The team, coached by Marc Carmona, was knocked
out in the quarterfinals by newly promoted Pinto.
A good run in the Cup
They started the competition well going in as one of the seeded teams, an
improvement on last year when Barça Mobicat couldn’t even qualify. They reached the
semi-finals and came close to going through to the final. In the quarterfinals they beat Benicarló
but lost in the semi-finals to league champions ElPozo Murcia.
The first Copa Catalana
The final of the Copa Catalana was played in December against Marfil Santa Coloma.
Marc Carmona’s players achieved a comfortable 4-0 win and won the Copa Catalana for the first
time in the Club’s history.
