The third place in the 2008-09 regular season meant FC Barcelona played in the first ever Super Cup. The competition was played in Vigo, and Barça went out in the semis.
The Spanish Futsal Super Cup was played for the first time 2010. The four best sides of the 2008-09
season, Inter Movistar, ElPozo Múrcia, Lobelle Santiago and FC Barcelona met in Vigo for the sudden
death tournament.
Out in the semis
The
draw held in December determined that Barça would face ElPozo Múrcia in the semi final. The game
had goals from the start, with Vinicius scoring in the first minute, but Barça responding
immediately through Fernandao. But the Murcians soon re-established the lead, and it was 3-2 at the
break.
After the restart, ElPozo led
the initiative and Wilde soon stretched their lead to 4-2. Shortly after, the Brazilain made it
five. Carmona opted to use a rush goalie with 6:42 left on the clock, and although Igor did pull
one back for Barça, Vinicius put and end to the FCB hopes, and a Saad goal eventually won the game
6-4
for the side from Murcia.
