The former captain of the Serbia and Montenegro national team started playing when he was 12 in the youth teams of the Crvenka Handball Club and stayed there for eight seasons.
He then moved on to Red Star Belgrade where he enjoyed five successful years (1988-93. His first
team in Spain was Atlético Madrid (93-94) before he moved on to Alzira (94-95) and then Ademar de
Leon (95-97).
After this stint in the Spanish league he moved to the German Bundesliga where he played for
Hameln for a season (97-98). In 1998 he joined Celje in Slovenia where he stayed for two campaigns
(98-00) before returning to Germany to play for Northorn (00-02). Skrbic finally joined FC
Barcelona in the summer of 2002 where he has since become a vital player in the side.
CHARACTERISTICS
The well-built player is a very strong pivot, but has also demonstrated that he is comfortable playing in a number of different positions. He is fast, skilful and effective, leads by example and brings a winning mentality to the team. He has a strong throw and is capable of scoring important goals.
