Handball player Dragan Skrbic has announced his retirement from the game come the end of the season. At 38 and after 22 years at the height of the game, Skrbic wants to mark the end of his sporting career with Barça.
Following many years at the top, Dragan Skrbic decided to end his career as a player fro FC
Barcelona. The man from Serbia is full of praise for the club which has seen him pick up 12 major
trophies including his dream of winning the European cup.
“I’ve come to an end of an era in my life that I have to leave behind and think
about doing other things. The time has come for me to retire. I think it’s the right time to
do it because I am in the best club in the world and I have no desire to go to another club after
having been here.”

Skrbic started in 1988 playing for Red Star Belgrade and since then has been an
authentic globetrotter. He arrived in SPain in 1993-94 and played for Athletico Madrid, Alzira and
Ademar of Leon. Following this stay, he moved to the Bundesleague and then to Slovenia, where he
played two seasons, before returning to Germany, where he played for a further two years in
Nordhorn.
In the season of 2002-03 he arrived at Barça with the reputation of being one of the best
players in the world. In 2000 he was voted best player in the world, where not even injuries could
have stopped him in his impeccable career. He came to Barça looking to win titles and he achieved
just that: Champions league and Asobal Liga are the highlights of the 12 titles in total he won in
his five seasons with the balugrana.
