German team Flensburg did the damage against Barça in the quarter finals of the Champions league. The defeat in the first leg by 10 goals was enough to leave Espar’s team with the near impossible task of mounting a comeback in the return leg.
Barça Cifec started the campaign well and secured top spot in the first round of games after wining
all six games. In the second round, Montpellier were the opponents. The French team put up stiff
resistance and won the first leg by 3 goals (29-26), however, Barça were able to come back and in
dominant fashion won the return leg 29-23.
The quarter finals brought
the run to an end. The first leg game saw the blaugrana have difficulties in defence and in attack
and they fell to a much stronger Flensburg team 31-21. 10 goals proved too much a difference to
make up in the return leg, despite the blaugrana winning well 34-29.
