The Dane Joachim Boldsen is an acclaimed centre half. He moved into the big league when only 17 years old and since then hasn’t stopped surprising us. His strength and scope of play make him a difficult player to stop.
This will be Boldsen’s first season in the Asobal League. His career as a top player
developed in Germany, but more so in his native Denmark. He came to Barça from AaB Handbold, for
whom he played only one season (2007/2008). Before that the Dane played for one of the major German
League teams, Flensburg. From 2001 to 2007 the player delighted the German supporters. He also
played for TV Grobswallstadt in Germany for two seasons (1999/01). This was after moving from GOG
Svendborg Gudme, where he also played for two seasons (1997/99).
Boldsen’s first team as a handball player was with his hometown team, Helsingor IF.
This was in 1993 and he played for the Danish team for five years.
The Danish centre has also played 163 games for the Danish national team and has scored 375
goals. He also helped the national team become European Champion this year.
Profile
He’s a very able centre, in attack as well as in defence. His height (1.87m) and his
weight (more than 100 kg) make him an aggressive player in attacking plays, a participative player
with a powerful throw.
