Iker Romero was educated in the corazonistas of Vitoria.
His first professional handball team was Valladolid (1997-2000). He then went onto play for a season in Ademar León (2000-01) and then had a two-year spell at BM Ciudad Real (2001-03) before signing for Barcelona in 2003.
He made 40 international appearances at junior level and was a runner-up in the World Championships in 2001. He also won the Europeans Junior in 1999 and 2000 and was voted the Best Junior Player in Spain in 1999, 2000 and 2001.
CHARACTERISTICS
A strong left-sided player who shows great courage on the court. He is very skilful and has an excellent throw. He shows no fear in high pressure moments and enjoys leading by example as well taking a great penalty.
