FC Sorli Discau won their tenth consecutive league title last and the 20th in the team's history. In the regular phase Quimo Paüls' side finished as clear leaders with a tally of 83 points, 14 more than their nearest rivals Alinimar Reus Deportiu.
The Blaugrana chalked up that tally with 27 victories, two draws and just one defeat. In the
quarter finals, Barça beat Cemex Tenerife over two games as they won 9-3 in the Palau Blaugrana,
before chalking up a 4-3 triumph in the Canary Islands. In the semi finals, Lyceum Vodafone were
the opponents and the Blaugrana clinched their place in the final with two victories in the Palau,
winning 5-1 and 8-3.
Penalty win
In the final itself Barça faced Reus, the same opponents at this stage that they had played
in the previous two years. The Blaugrana won the first two games in the Palau, 5-1 and 4-2, but in
the third game they needed a last minute goal from Beto Borregán to take the game to extra time, as
he netted to make it 2-2. In extra time the result did not change and penalties were needed to
separate the two sides and Barça were victorious in the shoot-out, 3-1. The veteran Barça player,
'Negro' Paéz played his final minutes as a Blaugrana player against Reus and clinched the title in
his 13th year as a player with the club.
