The 2006-07 season was almost a 100% success. With the signing of former CP Vic star Josep Maria Ordeig, the only black spot for FC Barcelona’s roller hockey section was failing to take the Spanish Super Cup, which was won by great rivals Reus.
In the rest of the competitions, Barça was unstoppable. The first success was in the Continental
Cup against Follonica, the team that had eliminated Barça from the European league the previous
season in controversial circumstances. Barça won the first leg in the Palau 7-1 but lost the away
leg in Italy 2-0.
The Cup against Reus
The next title to be won by the men coached by Quim Paüls came in February in Alcoy. Barça
Sorli Discau beat Reus Deportiu 3-1, thereby taking revenge for the defeat in the same competition
by the same team last year.
Bassano helpless against Barça
Barça completed a great season by winning the European league and the OK League. The Final
Four - Bassano, Porto, Vic and FC Barcelona Sorli Discau - of the European Cup was held in the
small Italian town of Bassano. Barça beat Porto in the semi-finals and then went on to sweep aside
the hosts in the grand final to lift the Club’s 17th European Cup.
Barça beat Reus again
Barça put the finishing touch to a great season by beating fierce rivals Reus 3-0 to lift the
Club’s 10th consecutive league title. The final game also featured the farewell of team
captain José Luis el ‘Negro' Páez.
