FC Barcelona Sorli Discau rounded off an excellent season with their eleventh League title in a row. In the regular season Barça ended up as leader with 78 points, 18 ahead of second placed Reus Deportiu.
Dominance in the regular season can be seen from the figures: 25 wins, 3 draws and just 2 defeats.
The play-offs were a lot closer, however. In the quarter finals Barça beat Igualada in three tight
games by 5-4 and 2-1 in the first two in the Palau and by 4-5 at Les Comes. In the semi-finals,
Paüls’ team was missing Panadero, out to the end of the season, and Noia got ahead in the tie
by winning the first match in the Palau which also saw Mia Ordeig pick up a serious muscle injury.
However, Barça won the next three games in a row with sterling performances by youngsters Cristian
and Vergés.
Another final with Reus
The final was very even. Paüls’ men won the first game but Reus were victorious in the
next two. In the fourth, a golden goal by Borregán in extra time led to the fifth and decisive
match. This time Barça won convincingly by 5-2 in front of more than 4,000 cheering fans in the
Palau Blaugrana.
