Barça Sorli Discau appeared in the Mundial de Clubs de Reus instead of undergoing their usual pre-season routine and did well as they reached the final, only to be beaten by the hosts.
Taking part in the tournament in the Galician city of Vigo was a duty Barça could not turn down and
the roller hockey side did more than just participate as they progressed. After agreeing to take
part, the Blaugrana chose to try and win the trophy and came ever so close in what was an
impressive run.
In the first phase, Barça drew with Barcelos before overwhelming Centro Valenciano and then
defeating Petro Luanda to make it through to the quarter finals as group winners.
Oliveirense were no easy opponents as the game had to be settled on penalties afer a close
enough and then Valdagno showed how good they could be in the semi finals to make Barça work hard
for their 2-1 win.
On course to meet Barcelona in the final were Alnimar Reus Deportiu and when the two sides
met it was so evenly balanced that they had to be separated by virtue of a golden goal that came
from Carlos Figueroa.
