The Copa del Rey once again ended in disappointment for Barça Sorli Discau. Last season they lost the final in A Corunya to Roncato Patí Vic, and this time Ferran Pujalte’s side were beaten by the same side in a semi final penalty shootout.
In Lloret de Mar, Barça were hot favourites to win the knockout competition. But the quarter finals
matched them up with old rivals Reus. Pujalte’s side dominated from the start, but were only
winning 2-1 at the break.
But it was only a matter of time. Barça Sorli Discau were roaring and Reus just weren’t
having their day. Aitor Egurrola was outstanding and so were the players who eventually stormed to
a six-goal win.
So FCB were into the semi finals, where they were to face the ever awkward Roncato Patí Vic.
Barça took the lead thanks to a Mia Ordeig penalty. Marc Torra grabbed a second half
equaliser. And that was all the scoring there was, and we were headed for overtime.
It eventually boiled down to penalties, and the sending off of Aitor Egurrola meant an
immediate problem. Octavi Tarrés would be in goal instead. Vic had the best of the luck in the
shootout and went into the final to defend their title.
