Excellent atmosphere, first class
www.fcbarcelona.cat
The first edition of the Barça L’Illa Race had a great reception. A total of 1,541 people signed up to take part in this popular race running from the FC Barcelona Sport City to ‘L’Illa Diagonal’.
The atmosphere could be felt from the early hours of the morning. At 9.00 a.m., the Joan Gamper
Sport City, start and finish of the competition, participants and spectators who didn’t want
to miss the race, were already creating a notable atmosphere. A good response to this initiative of
FC Barcelona which came up to expectations.
Poular Race and popular people
If there is one characteristic which stood out in this race
it was the high participation and the presence of people from the club, such as the director
Claudia Vives-Fierro, or Enric Masip, sports director for the handball team, who also took part. A
mix of men, women, boys, girls, parents with their chidren and professional sportspeople, which
was, without doubt, the best part of the race. A race in which we cannot forget the presence of
munners from the FC Barcelona’s athletics section, who set the standard keeping Barça’s
pride.
The podiums and prizes, the final reward
The excitement did not wear off until the last runners
passed the line. The applauses and cheering on never stopped and were the outright stars of the
trophy giving ceremony on the podium.
There were prizes for everyone though,; the race t-shirt was the unifying element of all
those runners wearing it. There were also several promotional gifts for all the participants.
This was the first edition of the Barça-Illa race: happiness, illusion and a first class
armosphere were attraction this Sunday morning where the weather was favourable and in which
sportsmanship played an essential role. Just one big blue and red party.
