Olmedo reaches semi-finals in style

Barça athlete Manuel Olmedo is through to the semi-finals of the 800 metres. He finished first in his heat with a time of 1:45:78.

Olmedo ran an intelligent race. He remained at the back of the pack during the first lap but then surged forward to take the lead after the bell.

In good company

Another Spanish athlete, Antonio Manuel Reina, finished third in his 800 metre heat with a time of 1:46:30. He has qualified for the semi-finals as one of the eight fastest runners outside of the top two in each heat.

Miguel Quesada was eliminated with a time of 1:49:06.
