The technical secretary of the basketball section, Joan Creus, was highly satisfied with the return of Juan Carlos Navarro to Barça. “A hero is back at the Palau Blaugrana”, he said.
After a year in the NBA, Juan Carlos Navarro is back at Barça and becomes the first new member of
the team coached by Xavi Pascual for the 2008/09 season. Speaking to Barça TV and
www.fcbarcelona.cat, Joan Creus said he was delighted to welcome the Catalan back home.
“Navarro is a reference here”
Creus said tat the deal “is satisfactory for both parties”, and was especially
pleased to welcome home somebody who “is a reference here. The most important thing here is
that there was total agreement between the player and the club. Now he has had his adventure in the
NBA, but what he really wanted to do was come back and play here”.
A player who connects
Joan Creus reckons Juan Carlos Navarro “is an important signing”, especially
considering “what he represents for the club and all of the great years he spent here
before”. As for his qualities as a player, Creus singled out three “Navarro is a very
creative player, his style is hard to predict and he connects very well with the fans. He was very
keen to come and we were too”.

As for what it costs to sign Juan Carlos Navarro, Joan Creus made it clear that “we are not
talking about anything like the kind of money people are talking about” in reference to some
figures that have appeared in the media. “The agreement was satisfactory both for Navarro and
for the club, and both parties come out winning. The transfer fees were correct” said the
technical secretary of Barça’s basketball team.
