Grimau signs Winterthur Barça extension
Sònia de Alba
Winterthur FC Barcelona have exercised their option to automatically renew Roger Grimau's contract for one more season.
The powerful guard is delighted with the faith that the club have shown in him and is the first
player to have put pen to paper on a new for the 2007/08 campaign. "After the final game in the
league, the club had ten to 15 days to decide whether to do the deal or not and they have done it,"
he said. "I am very pleased that it has gone through."
Confidence boost
"When I signed my contract four years ago and the club added the option of an extra year I
thought then that if the day comes and they offered me an extension then it would be because
everything had gone well for me," he continued. "I am thrilled to be continuing and did not want to
even think about saying goodbye to the team."
A question of honours
Grimau joined Winterthur Barça at the start of the 2003/04 season from Caprabo Lleida and in
his first year helped the club win the ACB League after an intense five-game final with
Estudiantes. The following season (2004/05) Barça won the Super Cup in Málaga against Real Madrid
and repeated the feat in February of this year when they beat Madrid again in Málaga.
