Trias and Navarro prepare for EuroBasket 2007

Coach Pepu Hernández’s Spain squad for EuroBasket 2007 was officially unveiled to the press on Thursday. Among the players are Barça’s Juan Carlos Navarro and Jordi Trias.
The European Championships will be held this year in Spain from 3rd to 16th of September. The squad
chosen by former Estudiantes coach Pepu Hernandez, consisting of the 12 men who won last
summer’s World Championship in Japan plus Mario Bruno Fernández, Jordi Trías and Víctor
Claver, will have a pre-tournament training camp in San Fernando (Cadiz).
Players and coaches are due to leave for Cadiz on Thursday afternoon where they will remain
until 9th August. They will take part in twice daily training sessions starting this Friday in the
‘Pabellón Municipal Bahía Sur’
Friendly games
Spain will then play seven friendly encounters before the start of the tournament, divided up
into three stages. The first stage will be in the north of Spain with a total of three games. They
start with Portugal (Logroño 14th August) followed by two games against a strong Lithuania side led
by former Barça star Sarunas Jasikevicius (Gijón 16th August and Ourense 18th August).
They will then move on to the Valencia region for the second stage of their preparations
where they will play the Czech Republic (Castellón 21st August) and Germany (Valencia 22nd). The
third and final stage will see them play Germany again (Palma 28th August) and France (Alicante
29th August).
