Regal FC Barcelona eased to their 16th victory of the season as they moved into a commanding lead in the first half and then put on a show for their fans in the third and fourth quarters.

With a 42-pont winning margin the Blaugrana domainted Meridiano Alicante as Gianluca Basile shone in a game that saw him net eight triples as the Palau revelled in a party atmosphere.

Bright start

Incredibly, the visitors took a 6-9 lead after just eight minutes with Andriuskevicius moving well while Stojic and Austin stood out. Many felt that the game would be tight after this bright start, but that was as good as it became for Alicante as Barça netted the next 23 points to move into a lead that they would not let slip.

While their opponents continued to strive to stay within a respectable distance, Barça maintained steady progress and continued to add to their tally.

Edging clear

One rare scare for the home team came when Juan Carlos Navarro went over on his ankle and had to be treated for a twist in the third quarter. The injury was not serious though and he was soon back on his feet and helping Barça forward.

Basile then took the spotlight and began to increase his personal tally of points. The first triple saw his confidence grow and the Italian then went on to add six in the second half of the game having already netted two before the break.

Fran Vázquez wrapped up the scoring and pushed the home team 42 points as Barça edged 114-72 in front.
