www.fcbarcelona.cat
Regal FC Barcelona’s victory in the Euroleague final in Paris has been met with unanimous praise from the Spanish sports press.
The praise is lavished in all directions starting with Xavi Pascual, Navarro and Creus, and
everyone highlights the spectacular basketball played by a Regal Barca team that is looking to do
the treble this season: “It’s not often that a team has deserved to win the Euroleague
as much as Regal Barca…with attractive, imaginative and spectacular basketball that has drawn
praise even from their enemies”. (El Mundo Deportivo)
Tremendous style
"The team has won the crown with the same great style shown throughout the season”.
(Marca) “This is a team with quality, not at all egoistic and tremendously competitive”
(Sport). “The current Regal Barca team is practically a perfect machine”. (AS).
Navarro the focus
Much of the praise is aimed at Juan Carlos Navarro. "Navarro conducted
a choral exhibition from the Barca players” (El Periódico de Catalunya). "Navarro is
unique” (El Pais). "Navarro leads Barca to the championship in Paris”. (AS).
The Spanish press points to a number of other factors in Barca’s success. "Mickeal, the
antidote to Childress while Basile and Sada contain Greek scoring thrusts” (Publico).
“Barca annihilates Olympiakos with three-pointers in an amazing first quarter” (ABC).
Foreign press joins the chorus
The foreign sports media has also been quick to recognize the achievement. 'La Gazzetta dello
Sport' describes Regal Barca as “on top of Europe” and stressed that Barca dominated
“from beginning to end”. In Germany, 'Kicker' describes the players as
“giants” while the Polish ‘Sports’ talks about a “triumphal”
victory.
