Barça’s most recent signing, Alan Anderson was voted MVP of the Cup competition and he
certainly deserved it. The number 32 kept Regal alive in the first half when the team were finding
it hardest to get through the Madrid defence, indeed 14 of his total of 19 points he scored came in
the first 20 minutes. Anderson also got 4 rebounds and received 4 fouls.
At the end of the game, Anderson said: “I am happy to have helped the team and for the
work done”.
Improving performances
The Cup’s MVP improved as the tournament went on, getting 5
points in 14 minutes against Juventud, whilst being decisive alongside Navarro against TAU with 17
points and 4 rebounds – a taster of what he achieved in the final.
First title
The 2011 Spanish Cup is Alan Anderson’s first title since he came to the ACB
in December 2010 and his MVP award makes him the fifth Barça player to win the accolade, following
on from Pau Gasol (2001), Dejan Bodiroga (2003), Jordi Trias (2007) and Fran Vázquez (2010).
