The new FC Barcelona football shirt went on sale this Sunday, with the blue design and shirts bearing Thierry Henry’s name attracting the most attention.

On July 1, the FC Barcelona club shop at the Camp Nou opened its doors, and the new shirts for the 2007-08 season were the main attraction. Plenty of members came to make their purchases even though it was a summer weekend, and despite the wide variety of different tastes, the main attractions were the blue design and Thierry Henry’s name.

A surprising number of the people buying shirts preferred to go for the reserve colour, blue, and there seemed to be a general mood of satisfaction that this should be the colour of the second strip to be worn by Frank Rijkaard’s team. Fans and members also showed their enthusiasm for the arrival of Thierry Henry, with his name featuring on many of the shirts bought. The French star looks likely to be as popular among fans as established players like Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldinho and Leo Messi.

The popularity of the new shirt will be revealed over the next few days, but if early indications are anything to go by, the new Nike design is going to a very popular one indeed.
