UEFA president, Michel Platini, has been named honorary president of the European Former Players’ Associations (EFPA).
The former France international and current UEFA president was voted honorary president of the
European Former Players’ Associations at a general assembly of the organisation last
Saturday. The appointment was approved unanimously.
Platini grateful
Platini thanked the membership of EFPA for their support and wished the organisation,
directed by Ramon Alfonseda, a successful future. The EFPA came into being thanks to the initiative
of the Barça Veterans Association in 2006.
This is not the first time that Platini has been involved with former players’ groups.
The former Juventus, Saint-Étienne and AS Nancy midfielder kicked off the first match of the
European Former Football Players Association in Eindhoven in May 2006.
