Laporta: “We are on the right track”

Àngels Prieto / Anna Segura

During the press conference after the Board meeting in Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Joan Laporta has spoken about how well the first team is doing, and although he admits there is still work to be done, things are most certainly on the right track.

As well as announcing changes to the organigram of directors, Joan Laporta has also spoken about the way the club is going. He is very pleased with the form shown by Frank Rijkaard’s side, and said “at this early stage of the season we should not get carried away with the praise-giving because the only secret is to work as professionally as possible. I understand that we are on the right track but there is still a long way to go.”

Laporta is also delighted to see Ronaldinho fit again. “We are happy with him. His recovery has made him happy again and that is transmitted to the rest of the squad.”

Barça v Atlético de Madrid kick off time

Joan Laporta also confirmed that this Sunday’s game will indeed be a 17.00 start, as the league has already announced. “I don’t know who the operator will be, but we are all planning to play at 17.00.” He pointed out that when there is so much uncertainty about match times “the ones who really suffer are the members, fans and clubs because we are the middle of a cross-fire between two operators. And there are financial disadvantages because international rights cannot be dealt with in the normal way.”

Restructuring of the Camp Nou

After the meeting, the president also spoke about the plans to expand the stadium. “I understand the concerns that some people have expressed because there will be changes in terms of the urban planning in the district, but the definitive proposal is not ready yet.”
