FC Barcelona have inaugurated the 'Un marcaje al sida' (A goal against AIDS) campaign that will see various players support the fight against the illness in a series of commercials.
As part of the commitment to help vulnerable children in the world through its Fundación, FC
Barcelona has become another institution to help against the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the World
Against AIDS Day on Saturday, December 1, 2007.
A sign of his commitment is the start of the 'Un marcaje al sida'
produced by Barça TV. The campaign consists of six videos in which first team players speak out in
pairs and send a clear message in support of the battle against the problem.
The series of 30-second videos will be broadcast in Catalán, Spanish, English, French and
Portuguese, in order to have a broader message, and will be subtitled in Catalán, Spanish and
English.
The main participants in the campaign are:
• Valdés and Xavi
• Messi and Iniesta
• Henry and Rijkaard
• Deco and Puyol
• Eto'o and Henry
• Abidal and Thuram
The players involved in the initiative have shown their social commitment to the problem of
AIDS and have placed a special emphasis on the following messages.
AIDS continues to be a devastating epidemic and a global problem.
The access to treatment has improved, but a lot more can still be done.
All the possible methods of preventing the spread of the disease must be well known.
The high percentage of young people infected is worrying and nobody can lower their guard
against the disease.
The problems of orphan children around the world needs a forceful and global answer.
