Georgia’s president visits Barça

The president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili visited Camp Nou on Wednesday and was met by the club's president Joan Laporta who showed him around the stadium and the offices.
During an official visit to Catalunya, the leader of the former Soviet state took the chance to
have a look at the Blaugrana and even walked out on to the pitch to taste life from the view of the
players.
Presidential welcome
Saakashvili led a delegation, among which was the Georgian economy minister, to Barça and
were met by Laporta in the trophy room next the presidential box in Camp Nou. Laporta presented
every member of the party with a replica Barcelona shirt and a book about the history of the club.
In turn, the Georgian president has thanked Laporta for his hospitality and that of FC Barcelona
before presenting him with a golden chalice.
Realising a dream
Laporta and Saakashvili then walked down to the pitch where they kicked a football
around. The president of Georgia admitted that he had realised one of his dreams after stating that
he had always been an admirer of Barça. The visit was completed with a tour of the club's museum.
