Camp Nou, starting point for U2 tour
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Four years after their last visit, U2 will be back at the Camp Nou on June 30. The band has announced this on their official website, www.u2.com.
But the Irish rock outfit’s show at the Camp Nou will not be any ordinary affair. It will be
the opening gig of their U2 360º tour, which will take them all around the world, playing at 18
venues, including 14 in Europe, and the Barcelona concert will be their only appearance in Spain.
Rehearsals
The band themselves along with their sound technicians will be spending some time in
the Catalan capital in June. They will all be here putting the finishing touches to the show, which
being the opening night will obviously require more preparation than usual.
The plan is for these shows to differ from the norm. Rather than playing at one end of the
ground, the stage will be set up in the centre of the pitch, which will add a unique feel to the
way the crowd views the band.
Last visit in August 2005
U2 are no strangers to the Camp Nou. On August 7, 2005, they were here following the release
of their latest album, in what was called the Vertigo Tour. A sell-out crowd of 80,000 watched the
performance.
