Twenty of China’s top young footballers visited the Camp Nou this morning, accompanied by one of their country’s most famous players, Fan Zhi Yi.
The group of under-16 players belong to Shanghai FA, which represent a number of local teams, and
have been in Catalonia to take part in the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC 2009). Two hundred
teams from 25 different countries took part in the competition which was held between 7th and 12th
April on the Costa Brava.
The group, which also consisted of eight local coaches, was led by one of China’s
all-time greats Fan Zhi Yi, who played in the English Premier League. The visit consisted of a tour
of the Stadium and the club museum.
Exciting morning
Lin Chuang Yi, a young forward who bagged 20 goals in the tournament, was
thrilled by his experience at the Camp Nou. Lin is a Leo Messi and a Barca fan and was at the
stadium for the win over Bayern. He told us: “it was a great atmosphere”. This
isn’t the first time Fan Zhi yI has visited the stadium though, having played against Barca
for the national team in 2005: “although we lost, I have good memories of that day and this
club. Barca is the team any player or coach would love to be at”.
