US media fascinated by treble & West Coast tour

Club president Joan Laporta has given a number of interviews to the US media prior to the UNICEF press conference to review the last three years of cooperation. The treble success and the preseason tour were the main topics of interest.
This Wednesday there will be a press conference and photographic exhibition (Pep Bonet’s view
of the impact of AIDS in Swaziland) in cooperation with UNICEF. During the build up to the press
conference, Joan Laporta has been speaking to the US media.
On arriving in New York, Laporta spoke to journalists from the Los Angeles ‘La
Opinión', the most important Spanish language daily on the west coast, the Spanish radio station
ESPN Radio and the ‘The Seattle Times'. The summer tour of the West Coast and the treble
success were the main topics of conversation.

On Tuesday evening, he was at the New York studios of CNN for an interview with the Spanish
language service and then another on the World Sports service of the 24-hour international
division. As well as speaking about the tour, the president discussed this season’s treble
success and the commitment to UNICEF.
Treble and tour
Mr Laporta told us, “All the interviews centred on the treble, which has made a big
impact, and above all the Champions League. Then the sporting consequences and logically the summer
tour of the West Coast. They’re focussed on the great team that is Barça and speak about
Messi, Iniesta, Touré, Xavi, Piqué and Márquez, for example. There’s a lot of interest in
Barça. Also they put a high value on the UNICEF agreement because the headquarters of the UN is
here in New York”.
