Eight directors resign
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Eight members of the FC Barcelona Board of Directors have resigned as a result of “the discrepancy about what actions to take following the result of the vote of no confidence on Sunday”, as announced by vice president Albert Vicens.
The directors that have stood down so far are vice presidents Albert Vicens, Marc
Ingla and Ferran Soriano; secretary Xavier Cambra and board members Antoni Rovira, Clàudia
Vives-Fierro, Evarist Murtra and Josep Lluís Vilaseca.
The following is a translation of the full announcement read today by Albert Vicens in his
own name and that of his seven colleagues:
“We have to announce that all of my colleagues with me here, Marc Ingla, Ferran
Soriano, Xavier Cambra, Antoni Rovira, Clàudia Vives-Fierro, Evarist Murtra, Josep Lluís Vilaseca
and myself have resigned from our positions on the FC Barcelona Board of Directors.
The reasons that have led us to make this decision are based on the discrepancy about what
actions to take following the result of the vote of no confidence on Sunday. In our view,
Sunday’s result expressed the majority’s discontent with this Board of Directors and,
given that the motion has not prospered, it recommended a substantial and immediate change in the
government of the club.
This opinion is not shared by the president and the group of directors that have decided to
continue managing the club. We understand our proposal to have offered the club stability and
social peace in an immediate and medium term way.
We wish to make it very clear that we absolutely respect the legitimate decision made
by the president and the colleagues on the Board that have stayed by his side. We respect it and at
the same time, desire them success and correctness in their work.
The FC Barcelona members and supporters should feel certain that the club is in a solid and
optimal sporting, financial and social situation. We ask Barça fans, above any divergent criteria,
to contribute to the stability and calm that is needed to govern FC Barcelona.
In my own name and that of my colleagues I would also like to thank FC Barcelona’s
members for the faith they have had in us since they elected us in 2003. We would like to extend
this gratitude to all of our colleagues on the Board of Directors, with whom we have shared some
extraordinary years and with whom we are united through firm friendship. We also wish to offer a
few words of thanks to all of the club employees for all the work they have done over these years
for the good of FC Barcelona.
Thank you very much”
