FC Barcelona ended the 2007/08 season with 162,979 members, a 4% increase on the previous membership figures, and following further new arrivals in July, the club now has more than 163,000 members.
FC Barcelona had, on June 30, 2008, 162,979 members, but has now passed the 163,000 mark thanks to
new members that signed up in July. In 2007/08, the total membership increased by 6,613 personas,
no less than 4%.
More than a club in the world
The figure consolidates Barça as one of the biggest clubs in the world, and its membership is
the highest of all. Moreover, such activities as the Unicef agreement have held the key to the
Barça phenomenon spreading more than ever around the planet.
In fact, more than 17% of the new members have been foreigners, meaning the slogan
‘More than a club in the world’ is becoming truer than ever.
Grow up with Barça
The fan base is getting younger, with a 10% increase in members aged 0 to 25 years, which are
now 35% of the total. The ‘Grow up with Barça’ programme, aimed at children, offers
exclusive advantages, such as announcements especially for younger fans inviting them to events on
the facilities, birthday greetings with personalised gifts and a free badge every new year.
Advantages of membership
Some of the advantages offered by the membership card are the welcome packs, priority and
discounts of purchasing tickets, and exclusive offers for theatre shows and museums.
More information channels
The club is offering more and more information to its members, especially that contained in the
official website, which is one of the systems that members use the most. But there are others, such
as the Barça magazine, which members receive every month for free, and the free and exclusive SMS
messages. In addition, the club has its own television channel, Barça TV, and the Barça Camp Nou
magazine available in the stadium for every League and Copa del Rey match.
