Foundation to travel to Rwanda

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Joan Laporta will lead an expedition that will leave for Rwanda on March 2 to visit a refugee camp where FC Barcelona’s Foundation is working in conjunction with UNHCR/ACNUR.

Next Tuesday, FC Barcelona representatives will be on their way to Rwanda and on March 3 and 4 will be visiting the refugee camps that the club’s Foundation and UNHCR/ACNUR have been running for the last two years. Joan Laporta and his companions will be visiting camps hosting refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, created as a result of the conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups.

Social work and education

The Foundation has helped improve the education infrastructure and professional workshops at these camps, and has also constructed sports facilities and a multi-purpose care centre. They have also set up an action plan for training the camps’ educators.
