Team to wear world champions shirt
www.fcbarcelona.cat
From Sunday’s game against Valencia until the end of the season, FC Barcelona will be wearing a special shirt in commemoration of being the best team in the world.
While also explaining how the club will be appealing against the
sendings off of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Josep Guardiola, corporate director general Joan Oliver also
revealed the shirt the team will be wearing for the remainder of the season. It specially
commemorates the Clubs World Cup title won in December in Abu Dhabi. Just above the UNICEF name,
there will be a logo of the World Cup and the words “World Champions 2009”. The club is
examining the potential for marketing the shirt.
Tax settlement
Oliver also said that last Friday the club paid the 36.7 million euros it owed to
the state in the form of tax, and has therefore settled all such debts for the 1996-99 period.
Testimonial
Reporting from the Delegate Commission, Oliver also explained that the
testimonial for the 1984/1985 League championship winning side is going well, and will involve the
participation of many members of that famous generation. “We have received a good response
and the confirmation of many of the players. The testimonial also wants to honour the memory of
Urruti”, said Oliver. The tribute will be held on March 24 on the occasion of the League game
against Osasuna at the Camp Nou.
Investments in Sant Joan Despí and grass
The Delegate Commission has also accepted two investments. The first will cost 160,000 euros
and consists of replacing the turf on Pitch 7 at the Ciutat Esportiva. The other is a payment of
250,000 euros for more lighting machines to support the growth of the grass in the stadium.
