Moto GP rider Jorge Lorenzo will present the special blaugrana helmet, gloves and boots he wore to celebrate Barca’s historic season last year at the Montmeló circuit to the club Museum on Saturday.
Jorge Lorenzo will take a break from his preparations for the new season to present the Museum with
his commemorative clothing ahead of the game against Bilbao on Saturday.
From Montmeló to the Museum
Lorenzo is a big Barca fan and he explained to Barca TV and
www.fcbarcelona.cat : “ I’m giving these things to the Museum, because Barca is the
motive for these gloves, this helmet….The Museum is one of the most visited in Catalonia and
I prefer to give these things to Barca”.
Special Clothing
The special clothing was designed by Lorenzo for the race at Montmeló last season: “we
had only won three titles then, though we made it six by the end of the year. I’m a big Barca
fan and that was my way to honour the team in the year we won everything”.
Zlatan
Lorenzo had always had Eto’o as his hero, they both share a
fighting spirit and Lorenzo is from Mallorca where the Cameroon striker was a big favourite, but
he’s quick to praise the man who took his place: “I followed Zlatan at Ajax. He’s
a creative and decisive player. He got loads of goals at Inter and we have to have patience with
him here. I like his attitude”.
Twitter
Jorge Lorenzo is away from Catalonia, where he lives, for a large part of the year as he
competes all over the world, but he keeps in touch with all the latest news through his Twitter
account: “I Twitter a lot and I use it to keep track of the results and how we’ve
played”. Lorenzo has followed football all his life, first as a fan of Litmanen’s Ajax
and then as a Barca supporter when he moved to Catalonia.
“When I was a kid, everyone supported Barca or Madrid, but I liked Ajax. I liked the
colour of their kit and the fact that they kept winning things-I really liked Litmanen. When I came
to Barcelona, I fell in love with Barca. I especially remember Kluivert and Rivaldo’s bicycle
kick against Valencia. Now I read everything I can about the club”.
