No weekend woes for Barca!
Roger Bogunyà
It’s been a great weekend for the Club, with the football, basketball and handball teams, plus the football reserve team, all well on the way to achieving their pre-season targets.
The football team’s 3-1 defeat of Jerez keeps Barca at the top of the Spanish league with
just four more games to play. However, there were similar positive results for a number of the
Club’s other sections.
Regal Barca
The basketball team pulled off a vital 84-74 victory against Unicaja to
mathematically clinch the regular phase of the league. They have two more games to go before the
Paris Final Four but the fact is that they are already guaranteed a place in the play-offs for the
ACB title.
Barca Borges
Meanwhile, the handball team beat Veszprem in the first leg of the
Champions League quarterfinals by 33 to 27. Though the six-goal lead doesn’t guarantee a
place in the semis, a place in the Final Four in Cologne looks ever nearer.
Barca Atletic
And there was great news also from the football reserves. Barca Atletic
beat local rivals Terrassa 0-1 and have clinched a place in the play-offs for promotion to Second
Division A. With two games remaining, the team managed by Luis Enrique will be aiming to hang on to
second place. While they cannot finish first they could still slip down to fourth.
