FC Barcelona founder Joan Gamper is set to become club member number one on a permanent basis after the delegate commission approved the decision made at the General Assembly in the summer.
Corporate director general Joan Oliver made the announcement at a press conference on Friday. "We
will retire the number one for Joan Gamper and from now on the number two will be seen as the
oldest club membership number and will be recognised as such."
Homage to César Rodríguez
Former Barça star César Rodríguez will be honoured during the club's Copa del Rey
encounter with Cultural Leonesa on November 10 in Camp Nou. Born in Leon, Rodríguez played for the
Blaugrana in the 1940's and 50's.
Ground improvements
The delegate commission has approved €500,000 to be spent on
improvements to the club's facilities. Astroturf pitches will be laid at the club's Ciutat
Esportiva Joan Gamper while lighting at Camp Nou will be improved. All the work will be carried out
over the Christmas holiday break.
Tax proposals
Reflecting on the plans by the Spanish government to do away with the Beckham Rule for high
earners, Oliver stated that it will have little affect to Barça. "In general it will not cause us
any problem because Barça negotiate contracts in gross amounts and we have a great history of
promoting our homegrown players to the first team."
