The Fundació FC Barcelona has also enjoyed a successful 2009 with the inauguration of seven XICS centres and the consolidation of their own programmes and work with UNICEF.
2009 will go down as a truly memorable year on the sporting front for Barca and the club’s
social responsibility side has also had a remarkable last 12 months.
Seven new XICS
2009 has seen the inauguration of seven new XICS centres – in Morrocco, India,
Mali, Mexico (where two centres were opened),Ecuador and Burkina Faso. These openings mean that the
centres of integrated support now benefit more than 10,000 people throughout the world.
Three new JES
The other big programme run by the Fundació, are the Jornades d’Esport Solidari (JES),
which aims to help train coaches throughout the world has been held in Ecuador and in Santa Coloma
Coloma de Gramenet and the Nou Camp.
Foment dels valors cívics
The online training resource ‘Juga-la!’ has continued to be
used in classrooms in Catalonia and Latin America to divulge civic values through the
juga-la.cat . Website, whilst the ‘Fem equip, fem ciutat’ programme which aims to create
positive conduct in sporting clubs has been rolled out in seven Catalan towns and cities.

Advances with UN
The alliance with UNICEF has also taken a big step this year, incorporating Southern Africa
in its anti AIDS campaign, as well as organising a number of activities in Catalaonia to make
people aware of the problem. The Fundació has collaborated with UNESCO in a study to set up a
university chair and also worked with UNHCR on programmes to help refugees, with particular work
done with displaced people in Colombia.
