FC Barcelona has come to a cooperation agreement with the major Turkish telecommunications company. Avea has become the club’s official telecommunications collaborator in Turkey.
Avea and Turkish football
FC Barcelona’s new official telecommunications collaborator, Avea, has already made
investments in Turkish football. They are the main sponsors of Fenerbahçe and are also involved in
the sponsorship of Galatasaray and Beşiktaş.
The company of Turkish origin, Avea, will be FC Barcelona’s official telecommunications
collaborator in Turkey until the 2012-2013 season. Barça was chosen because it is one of the best
football clubs in the world and has been so successful in recent years. Through this commercial
agreement, Avea subscribers will be able to access FCB products, FC Barcelona mobile content,
exclusive rates and other GSM services.
The agreement was presented today in the Camp Nou presidential suite, where FCB’s
director of Media and Sponsorship, Manel Arroyo, spoke positively of the new agreement. He said
“we are very satisfied to have come to this agreement with such an important
telecommunications company in Turkey. FC Barcelona wants to reach around the world and agreements
like this help us to become more universal every day”.
At the same time as the commercial agreement between FC Barcelona and Avea, the club will
also be cooperating with one of the Turkish enterprise’s social projects. The initiative
called “FC Barcelona Avea Camp”, will give school-age children in Turkey the chance to
be coached by FCB Escola staff on the club’s facilities. The youngsters will be selected from
all around Turkey with the help of some of the top clubs in the country and also the Turkish School
Sports Federation (TOSF) and the institute on which it depends, the General Direction of Youth and
Sport (GSGM).
Director Manel Arroyo added that “it particularly excites us to be able to collaborate
with different Turkish institutions on this project with young Turkish sportspeople who will get
the chance to train with some of the youth coaches at our club”.
