Barça have most European fans

FC Barcelona have the most supporters of any club in Europe, study by Sport+Markt has revealed. The Blaugrana can claim to have an incredible 57.8 million fans, almost double that of their nearest rival.
Pep Guardiola's team have won the hearts and minds of many football followers across the continent
and that has meant that they top the Football Top20 study that has discovered which clubs are the
most popular. The great football and homegrown talent that have risen through the ranks at Camp Nou
have won the club even more supporters and Barça now top the poll while Real Madrid are back in
second place with 31.3 million followers.
More supporters
The popularity of FC Barcelona has increased considerably since 2006 and especially
within the last 12 months as people were wooed by the club's incredible back-to-back title triumphs
and the scooping of the World Club Cup. From having 44.1 million fans in 2009 the Blaugrana can now
boast 57.8 million which means a further 13.7 million now claim to follow the team. Real Madrid
have gone in the opposite direction as they have around 10 million less than they did a year ago.
Spain fans
With players such as Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta in the side
Barça have 5.5 million followers within Spain, according to Sport+Markt. That gives them 29 per
cent of football fans, the seventh largest percentage for one team in any country in Europe. Real
Madrid have the most supporters in Spain with 6.8 million, which equates to 39 per cent.
