Sandro Rosell has presented gold club crest for the first time in his role as FC Barcelona president as he spent Friday with 189 members who were celebrating being associated with the Blaugrana for 50 years.
On the day of Mercé and the 53rd birthday of Camp Nou it was the stadium that took centre stage for
various events and one of the most emotional moments came in the Sala Paris. At 11.30am the 189
members received their gold club crest from Rosell.
Very excited
It was the Rosell's first official act since he took over as president
in July and he was accompanied by vice president of the social area Jordi Cardoner. The president
revealed that he was very "excited" when handing over the badges as the club showed their thanks
for the fans' support over the past half-century.
Gold crests
During the ceremony, which was compeered by Camp Nou announcer Manel
Vich, Rosell made a dedication to the supporters who received the gold crests. "It is a very
special day and I want to dedicate a great round of applause to you for the 50 years that you have
been a part of our club," he said.
"They say that to enjoy the good times you have to also experience the bad, but I think that
there are three things that are great whatever comes. The first is maturity, the second is to have
grandchildren and the third is to be a member of Barça," he added. "I am envious of club members
who have been associated to the club for 50 years."
Physio thanks
Among the 189 members to receive the crests was the man who was the
football first-team's physiotherapist for over 30 years. Angel Mur is a well-known face around the
club and Rosell included him in his speech and was given a warm ovation by all present.
