“We need to keep our heads up”
The FC Barcelona players all agreed that it was major disappointment to go out of the Champions League, and that now they will have to turn their full attention to the League and the Cup.
The Champions League is over for this season, but there is no time to dwell on what might have
been. The players now need to get focused again and start thinking about the important league visit
of Real Madrid on Saturday.
Xavi
“We did everything we could and it was a shame. But there are still two titles left.
But anyway, I think the team tried to do its best.”
“We approached the game in the best possible way. It is not fair that we have gone out
because Barça played much better football.”
Ronaldinho
“We need to lift our heads because there is no time for feeling down, we have an
important game coming up”
“The players are sad but we can’t afford to stay like this for much longer. Now
we can’t afford to make any mistakes in the league. To stay at the top we have to be on form
every week”.
“Every team has its way of playing, we won but it was not enough. We have to keep on
working because there is no time for feeling sad.”
Andrés Iniesta
“In the first half they were very well organised. We had the game controlled but we
couldn’t get through. But that all changed in the second half”.
“We knew they were going to have a lot of chances, because they can be very dangerous
at home.”
“We need to lift our heads, there is an important game on Saturday. We are upset, it is
hard to accept that you are out of the Champions League.”
Deco
“They had the advantage of the first leg but we played well. In football you always
know that you can win or you can lose. We were really keen to win the Champions League
again”.
“The team fought hard, and now we are obliged to do well in the league. Now we have to
work hard every day and do the best we can to win the league. It’s tough, difficult, but
that’s football and we have to get over these things because we have a difficult game against
Madrid to come.”
Thuram
“Barça played the ball around really well in the first half, and in the second
Liverpool looked more tired. When Gudjohnsen scored, we thought we could make it 0-2”
