The 18 for Deportivo
Frank Rijkaard has announced his squad for the game against Deportivo. Márquez, Saviola, Ezquerro and Deco are left out, the latter both through injury and suspension.
After two weeks without league action, Frank Rijkaard has announced his squad as play resumes this
Saturday against Deportivo la Coruña. The full squad was available with the sole exception of Deco,
who is still recovering from an injured tendon in a right hand finger. However, as he was shown a
fifth yellow card at Recreativo in the last game, he would not have been able to play anyway.
Three other absentees
Also missing from the list are Saviola, Ezquerro and Márquez.
The Mexican is dropped because he is considered to have had a tiring week with a long journey to
his home country to take part in a friendly against Ecuador. Márquez was excused from training on
Friday and worked out in the gym instead. Saviola and Ezquerro, meanwhile, were left out by
decision of the manager.
So, the complete squad of 18 to take on the Galicians will be
Valdés, Jorquera, Puyol, Xavi, Belletti, Motta, Zambrotta, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi, Gudjohnsen,
Gio, Edmílson, Sylvinho, Eto'o, Thuram, Oleguer and Giuly.
