Laporta values victory
Club president Joan Laporta is delighted with Barça`s important win against Mallorca. Speaking on Monday he told reporters that the team had won: “Three golden points that will catapult us to the league title”.
The win against Mallorca has taken on special significance after our nearest rivals for the league
title both lost their respective matches. As a result, Barça has once again opened up a gap at the
top of the table. According to Club president Joan Laporta: “You always enjoy Mondays more
when you’re leader”.
The importance of the win
Players, coaches and fans have all enthusiastically welcomed Sunday’s win. Speaking
today at the official presentation of a new biography of Frank Rijkaard (written by Toni Frieros,
the book will be available to readers of Catalan sports daily ‘Sport' as part of the local
Saint George’s day celebrations), Mr Laporta insisted: “The reaction is logical. These
were three golden points that will catapult us to the league title”.
Rijkaard’s personality
Mr Laporta went on to comment on the manager’s exuberant celebration of Fernando
Navarro’s own goal, which gave Barça the three points: “When it comes to football,
Frank is a man with feelings, a passionate man. In conversation, he’s a relaxed, diplomatic
person. The peace he transmits has had a soothing effect in difficult moments”.
