Rijkaard: “We only lacked goals”
Jordi Clos
FC Barcelona coach, Frank Rijkaard, lamented the missed opportunities, however, valued the three points and the work of the players”.
The missed chances, the play and the rival teams were some of the themes touched upon in the post
match press conference. The Dutch coach congratulated his players on a job well done and for their
continued effort”.
Many chances
The coach gave a positive reaction to the victory: “The most important thing is to
create opportunities and therefore we needn’t rue the missed chances”. Despite this, he
recognised that they suffered more than what was predicted: “To only score one goal, created
the feeling that the game was never decided”. Rijkaard was sure that “more goals would
have given us confidence”.
Three valuable points
“We deserved to win; we created more” said Rijkaard. The coach did agree though
that they found things tough in order to get the three points – especially due to the chance
Levante had in injury time. “When we play at home, we want more, we’re used to a high
level. We have to keep working in order to give a good impression in every game”. Frank
Rijkaard had these words to say regarding the victories of the other contenders for the title:
“I don’t think about what’s happening with them; we have to concentrate on what
we do”.
Levante, a difficult opponent
The coach valued the three points achieved in what proved to be difficult game: “In the
final stages of a competition, all teams have to meet their objectives and therefore, there are no
easy games”. For this reason, “to win at these times is great and I’m
happy”. With regards to Levante: “Their defence was solid and they were very
physical”.
