Edmilson: “We came to Anoeta to win and we did”

Barça have collected a hugely important win in their bid to retain the league title. Edmilson was coming back from injury and played a central role in the game, and Rijkaard was delighted with his performance.

This week, Edmilson said he was convinced Barcelona were on course for the league and cup double, and on the evidence of today’s win at Real Sociedad, he might well be right. This was the Brazilian’s first start for the team since facing Deportivo at the Camp Nou, but he looked fully recovered at Anoeta. “I felt very good” he said after the match. “The truth is, I’m surprised because I’m not tired at all”.

“We came here to Anoeta convinced that we could win and we did it”.

“At first we needed a goal. In the first half we were over-desperate to score, but in the second we were calmer in front of goal and that is when we got the goals”.

“We have the fortune of only depending on ourselves. It is the others who have to worry. That is why I said this week that we will win the League and Cup and I am still convinced we will”.

“I have fully recovered from my injury. I felt very good. The truth is, I’m surprised because I’m not tired at all. I am happy to be back in the team and even more with the win”.
