Getafe unbeaten since first leg
Sergi Nogueras
Since losing the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi final with Barcelona, Getafe have collected 7 out of 9 possible league points, testimony of the good form Schuster’s side are showing.
Barça and Getafe met in the first leg of their semi final thee weeks ago, in a game that will
always be remembered for Messi’s wondergoal. Following three league fixtures each, the sides
now prepare to go head to head once again in the return match.
Barça meet same sides one week on
The Spanish league calendar works in such a way that the teams that play Barça are the same
ones Getafe has met a week earlier. So, while Barça have played Villarreal, Levante and Real
Sociedad, Getafe have been up against Levante, Real Sociedad and finally Betis, who Barça will meet
this weekend. In the three games, Barça have collected six points to Getafe’s seven.
Two wins and a draw
In their first match after losing 5-2 at the Camp Nou, the Madrid based side was held 1-1 by
struggling Levante. But they have followed that with a home victory over Real Sociedad, 1-0, and an
important away win at Betis, 2-0.
The goal against the Basque outfit was a second half strike from Alexis, while the scoring
against the Andalusians was opened by Gúiza, before Casquero added an absolute peach of a goal to
leave Getafe eighth in the table and still in with a chance of snatching a Uefa Cup place.
Good results Coliseum Alfonso Pérez
Barça have travelled to Getafe three times since the latter became a first division club, and have
yet to lose there, following two wins and a draw. On the first visit, in 2004-05, Barça won 2-1,
and went one better a year later with a 3-1 win. In January this year, they dropped points for the
first time on a trip to Getafe, the game ending one apiece.
