Back in training
David Puig/Miriam Nadal
Barca trained at the Masia this morning, following last night’s thrashing at the Vicente Calderon, with just Deco, who worked out in the gym, and the injured Marquez missing the session.
Training began at 11.00 with virtually the whole squad available: only Deco who was receiving
treatment on the nagging left ankle injury that’s been plaguing him for a few weeks, and
Marquez, who trained on his own at the Nou Camp as part of his recovery programme, were not at the
Masia.
Light training
It was a typical post match day training session with the
players who featured in Madrid doing some much lighter work than the players who didn’t
feature. Edmílson and Thuram, for example, trained for just 25 minutes, basically doing warm down
exercises and some sprinting, whilst the rest of the first team did some gentle ball work and
jogging.
Kick about for the reserves
The rest of the squad took part in the usual three-a-side
kick about, with Víctor Valdés and Albert Jorquera playing in goals. The three teams were made up
of Giuly, Sylvinho and Motta; Ezquerro, Belletti and Gudjohnsen and Oleguer, Iniesta and Saviola.
When a team scored the other were replaced by the third side and so on.
Frank Rijkaard wasn’t at the session, although he was at the Nou Camp preparing the
team’s next few games.
