Camp Nou the key
Sergi Nogueras
The league title will be decided over the last three matches of the season and while all the main candidates will play two of those matches at home, Barça’s record this season in the Camp Nou has been nearly perfect.
Barça will have the home advantage in two of their three remaining games; exactly the same as their
main rivals. If Barça maintain their excellent home record, everything is in their favour to be in
the title race to the last gasp.
Second highest percentage
Barça have won 43 of the 51 points at stake in the Camp Nou, an average of
84.31%. Valencia match those figures exactly while the only team in Europe that have done better
are Sevilla, with 86.27% of the points in their Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. In contrast, Real Madrid
have only managed to pick up 66.66% of the points in the Santiago Bernabéu.
Comparison with Europe
Barça’s figures are even more impressive if we compare them with some of the other big
clubs in the major European leagues. Manchester United have taken 82.15% of the points at Old
Trafford, Inter 83.33% at the San Siro, Olympique Marseille 80.39% at the Velodrome and Schalke 04
80.39% at the Veltins-Arena.
Camp Nou and Stamford Bridge
In addition, Barça are the only team in the major European leagues, along
with Chelsea, to maintain an unbeaten home league record. Barça have won 13 matches and drawn 4
while Mourinho’s Chelsea have won 12 and drawn 7.
Best goal difference
Barça also have the best goal difference (+28) on their own ground and, together with
Sevilla, have the highest total of goals scored (38). Finally, Barça share the record for the
fewest number of goals conceded (10) with Valencia and Getafe.
