Joan Laporta said that he was very proud of the fighting spirit that the Barça players showed in order to win all three points against Getafe with just ten men.
After the 1-0 victory on Saturday evening, the Barça president recognised that "the players have
given it their all". He also noted that every one of the team had "run themselves to empty" to
obtain the crucial victory that keeps open the chance to win the club's third consecutive league
title.
The fans' role
As well as congratulating the players, Laporta stated that "the fans were extraordinary" and
that they helped the team to be able to win the game against Getafe. "A great atmosphere in the
stands lifted the players," he added.
Digging deep
Analysing the game, the Blaugrana supremo said that "we began very well, but the dismissal of
Ronaldinho has made things a lot more difficult". He then added: "The players knew the situation
and they have dug deep for this." Looking ahead to the final two games of the season, Laporta said
that Barça should "only think about ourselves" and is convinced that "if we win our last two
matches, then we will win the league."
